Ron stood next to the fire glancing down at Shararah who was sleeping peacefully. Her eyes closed, she seemed undisturbed by the ongoing situation and her troubled past. Maybe she is dreaming of being whisked away by a prince and taken to paradise, he thought. Ron enjoyed sharing his time with Shararah; their dreams, childhood, what it was like growing up in mountainous Afghanistan and the Blue ridge mountains of Tennessee. Both were fascinated with each other's story.
He watched her admiringly, still pondering about the girl he had only met two days before. There is something mysterious, thrilling and enchanting about Shararah. Clearly, her charm, intelligence, resourcefulness, and most of all, her beauty had captivated him. Yet, here they were, worlds apart, being drawn together by life events and circumstances beyond their wildest dreams, struggling together for their very lives in a cavernous hideout set high in the Hindu Kush Mountains.
Shararah stirred a bit before opening her eyes in fright, sitting up quickly. Her sudden movement startled Ron who tumbled backwards over a rock, kicking up a cloud of dirt in the process as he landing on his rear. She giggled as Ron gathered himself together, brushing off the seat of his pants.
"That's twice since you have met me. Maybe you are falling for me?”
“Maybe I am." Ron said laughing. Yep. Hawk ole boy, I believe you really are. He assured himself quietly.
